Interface the iPhone to a Playstation 3

iphoneps3I have been reviewing possible replacements for my trusty Motorola RAZR 2 V8 for a little while.  Not that I really need it, my phone is still great, battery life lasts five days, the voice is nice, clear and loud for when i'm outside, only a few minor scratches and the black parts are coming off on my number pad.  It is everything that I wanted in a cell phone: a good telephone.

Of course, every 2 years, I look for an upgrade, and this year is my time to upgrade.  Palm have released their new Pre with the WebOS they have developed and Apple have responded at the Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco with the new iPhone 3G S.

Naturally, I was curious, with all the Apps available for the iPhone was looking if it can somehow connect to a Sony Playstation3.  What did i find you ask?  so far, lots of empty promises, but i did find this: iPhone to Interface With PlayStation 3 Blu-ray Disc Movie Playback

Netbender is working on a PS3 App for the iPhone.  The article dates from April 2008, I haven't looked deeper to see if it's available or if new features were added, but i can see the potential.   The phone can be used as a remote to control the PS3 via Bluetooth when you watch a Blu-ray, and since the iPhone has internet capability, it could include the displaying Internet Movie Database information about the film you are watching.  The article mentions also video and audio transfers between the two, but with the protection that Apple puts on the phone through iTunes, i think only playback would work.

Interesting, very interesting...
