Not good news: Dell has revealed that Windows 7 will be more expensive than Windows Vista

Windows 7 FishWindows 7 looks promising, i have said it before, and i will say it again, and again.  I have tried both the public beta release and the recently RC1 release and i have nothing put praises to say for Microsoft's newest operating system.  It's Fast, stable and looks great, i have had some minor issues, but i was able to fix them without having to search the internets for patches and registry hacks.  Already that's a major improvment over Windows Vista.  Now, for the bad news.

Darrel Ward, director of product management for Dell's business client product group, states,

"If there's one thing that may influence adoption, make things slower or cause customers to pause, it's that generally the ASPs (average selling price) of the operating systems are higher than they were for Vista and XP. In tough economic times, I think it's naive to believe that you can increase your prices on average and then still see a stronger swell than if you held prices flat or even lowered them. I can tell you that the licensing tiers at retail are more expensive than they were for Vista."

I totally agree with this guy, who i have never heard of. Why charge more for the Windows7 if you know that people will go out and buy it?  Oh right, i think i just answered my question.  Microsoft is doing what any company does; make as much money as possible.  Is it a smart business move?  In my oppinion, yes.  Does it make sense? for sure, they are looking to cash in with the popularity of this new Operating system.  Do i like the idea? Simply put, hells no.
