Sony’s E3 Keynote – all gaming related.

sony_stage_e32008You might be curious about the title, "all gaming related". What can i say, E3 is for gaming first, so it was only natural that Sony showed off all the new hardware and software for the Sony Playstation 3 and the PSP, as well as announced the new PSP Go, a cool looking slider-ish PSP.

Am i a little disappointed? Not really, Microsoft threw a lot more money at the show, had people on stage showing off various things (The Beatles Rockband looked cool), but Sony had some cool looking exclusive games and their new (still in prototype form) 1 to 1 motion cature controller.

There were a lot of PSP related news, it's cool to see Sony still pushing hard with the PSP, maybe it will eventually catch up to the Nintendo DS's dominance of the portable gaming market. I was hoping for some more Grand Turismo 5 information for the PS3, there was a short demo showing the rally mode, and not to my surprise (but i'm freaking happy about) damage to the cars, but the PSP edition took center stage, with 800 cars and 40+ racks.

The show was hosted mainly by Jack Tretton.  I'll steel a quote from Wiki for who he is.

Jack Tretton is the businessman & President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment of America (SCEA), a division of Sony Computer Entertainment, which is a subsidiary of Sony Corporation [1]. He is primarily responsible for the company's United States market.
