I'll be honest, i'm a Star Trek fan, but i'm not a Trekkie. After watching Star Trek Voyager, and barely watching the last few seasons, i was getting tired of the same story being repeated. When i say Star Trek Enterprise, that's when i knew, the show was no longer in the right hands at Paramount, and it needed to end. Unfortunatly, it had a slow and painful death, only for an extremely fast reboot. It's funny how that happens, in only 2 years, we go from this, to this!
When i first saw the trailer to the new J.J. Abrams version of Star Trek, i was actually excited again. From the first pictures of the crew, to the teaser, it looks to be a true return to basics. Here is a basic concept by Gene Roddenbury, a show from 1966 about a small crew travelling in space, in a ship called Enterprise. When it came out, just the casting of the crew was pushing all sorts of boundaries, a black woman on the communicator, a japanese man flying, an american type Capitan, etc, all working together. It is now a phenomenon, so beloved by fans, it is practically a religion now, and her we are in 2009 and witnessing a rebirth, if you wish of a classic story.
Basic Plot (from Wiki): Star Trek is a 2009 science fiction film directed by J. J. Abrams, written by Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman, and produced by Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk. It is the eleventh film based on the Star Trek franchise and features the main characters of the original Star Trek series, who are portrayed by a new cast. It explores the backstories of James T. Kirk (Chris Pine) and Spock (Zachary Quinto), before they unite aboard the USS Enterprise to combat Nero (Eric Bana), a Romulan from the future who threatens the United Federation of Planets.
