I was watching an old(-ish) dvd this weekend, Taxi 2, and i pressed pause to see one specific frame. I was instantly reminded that it is a non anamophic DVD, all of the freeze frames were blurry!
Here are a few articles that explain what it means to have 1080p24 content. I wasn't sure myself, with games, more frames per second is always better, so i figured 1080p60 was higher quality because there are more frames per second but i was really wrong! Here are a few articles that explain it
- Wikipedia's article for 1080p24
- What does the P stand for in 1080p?
- Some older DVDs are not Anamorphic format

- High-Def Digest's post
- Here is a great article on 1080p and HDTVs
