I often have people asking me why I never suggest products from Bose. It is hard to answer, and yes, my answer is entirely my oppinion. Do they make good products, sure, do they sound good, depends who you ask. An argument should need justification. Don't get me wrong, Bose is a profitable company, but then again, so is Monster Cable. What company that over prices all of their products and lie to consumers for their money isn't profitable? Read on to see what I and manyaudiophiles think about Bose.
It is easy to tell people just to google why Bose is not the prefered product to get, but I will save them the time now and refer them to this page. A poster on Digg said it best "Bose isn't an audio company, they're a marketing company". There is a whole list of people commenting on "Why Bose sucks", it is great! I do not hate Bose, I was impressed when I first heard their demo a few years back and their Life Style speakers were tiny, but it was all show, and no go. Their audio systems look great, are sleek, small, but do not sound as good as a true full range speaker. No sales person can convince me of what my ears don't hear. The laws of physics do exist for a reason.
Home Theater Blog has an interesting article from 2006 explaining why so many people are against it. They raise some really great points. You can read it here, and there is even a part 2. It is not a very long read, but it is an interesting one. Note: I can only comment on home theatre products.

First I just need to clarify something so we’re all on the same page here. Bose speaker systems are entry-level… if you think they’re audiophile-quality or anything even close to it then you are severely misinformed. So why all the hype? Well the reason I think is simple: they have an aggressive marketing plan.

What's this? another website too? and it this time it is not a blog post? Need i say more. Bose products are very often over priced, they were impressive when they first released their small Life Style speakers, but until the sales person stops talking, you can't really hear the low quality audio. If you are shopping for speakers, take the time to listen to them, do your research, don't just spend money on what you see is the most expensive item there.
Update December 29:
I probably sound like I am ranting, but no, it is not my intention to be a 'hater' of Bose, but I just can not justify a product that costs 2 to 3 times as much as a similar product from another brand but sounds exactly the same. Save the difference and get a true audio system.
You really come across as nothing more than an opinionated hater in this article. Bose is a tremendous product that fits the needs of many different folks, just not the obnoxious jerks who think that their ear is somehow smarter than everyone else’s. Perhaps instead of spending your time bashing a product and a market that you have zero concept of, you should concentrate on something useful, like say critical thinking courses or writing lectures.
But that is just what it is, my oppinion.

Bose is all marketing hype. No audio engineer would tell you they sound great, unless of course they’re from Bose, lol. They don’t even publish their specs and when you go to an electronics store such as best buy, 6ave, etc. You’ll find their lifestyle system separate from other brand speakers. This is so the consumer can’t compare the Bose with other brands and be surprised by how bad they really sound. Bose suck more dick than sasha grey or elton john combined. bose are cheaply made overpriced speakers that scores of speaker manufacturers have better sounding and better quality speakers for a third of the price.
