It's a go! Microsoft has officially opened the flood gates to Windows 7 - Release Candidate. As i reported earlier this week, it was officially released May 5th. You can download it here from the Microsoft.com site.
I am looking forward to this OS. I have tried the beta, on an older IBM Thinkpad T43 laptop, and the speed is impressive. On this laptop i have installed WindowsXP and Windows Vista (always in 32 bit mode) and i can tell you, when i put Vista, the PC was unbearably slow. The hard disk was going nuts, i don't know what it was doing. It's not a super laptop, it's a three year old Pentium M 2.0ghz, and i loaded it with 2gbs of RAM, but it flies in Windows XP, and runs great on Windows 7 build 7100 (RC1).
I am ready to install this Windows on all of my computers at home, except for the Acer One 8.9" laptop i own, but that is, until i read this. Reboots every 2 hours, yeah, not going to happen to me.
I can install Windows 7 on more PCs, and then once it is officially out, i will have to reinstall it again, re-do all of my setups, cause i don't upgrade, i format and start fresh, but why bother? Am i lazy? No. The other computers are working fine as they are, their users are used to how they're setup at the moment, why change something that isn't broken?
